The linked YouTube video in the title link shows youthful heart muscle cells derived from my old cells. Fibroblasts from my left arm were first converted to iPS cells and then to cardiomyocytes. Growing in a dish, they spontaneously began to beat, as you can see. For all practical purposes, those cells are identical to the muscle cells that beat in my heart when I was still in the womb.

This technology could be used to repair damage caused by heart attacks but generating autologous iPS cells is still expensive and somewhat tricky. The existence of those cells is actually more important as a proof of concept. They demonstrate clearly that my aged cells have the biological code for reversing the clock of aging.

That clock can be reversed all the way back to iPSC status but it could also take you back to peak adult health every few years. This would be done by partially reactivating the gene pathways that built you from a fertilized ovum to complete human. That is the vision that is behind the anti-aging race currently being run by so many top scientists from major universities. There are already important signs that it can be done. In fact, accidental discoveries indicate that it may be easier than we ever suspected.
