WORLD POPULATION TO BEGIN FALLING BY END OF CENTURY

WORLD POPULATION TO BEGIN FALLING BY END OF CENTURY. UN admits it (and Malthus) were wrong.

This Pew Research Center report about the UN population projection is wrong. The article begins, “For the first time in modern history, the world’s population is expected to virtually stop growing by the end of this century.”

That’s not true. Anybody who has studied demographics and is able to interpret second derivatives has known this forever. Before I was born, demographers, including Warren Thompson predicted with amazing accuracy what’s going on now. Until recently, however, their position was treated as science denial by all the right people.

I’ve written a lot about this topic but I still run into people who believe the standard overpopulation myth that was spread by the UN, academics, and the media. Here’s some trivia for you. America’s fertility rate dropped below replacement rate about 1971, just when the modern overpopulation hysteria took off.

Despite my snark, I’m happy that Pew and others are finally admitting the truth. This issue is critically important for reasons that I’ll elucidate later.
