Healthspans will continue to grow, meaning that non-medical retirement costs will increase. At some point, long before most people expect it, the rate of growth will increase radically. Guaranteed retirement financing then becomes untenable, even if healthcare costs for the aged fall to those of teenagers.
Slowly, we are beginning to grapple with these issues.
